A serial arsonist has been plaguing the campus of Montclair State University in recent weeks, which has delayed classes and forced hundreds of students out into the winter cold.

There have been seven occurrences of trash cans being set on fire this semester.

Edit desk: Never too close for comfort

The Brown & White, Lehigh University, PA

Waking up sophomore year was painful. My roommate Peter and I both had 8 o'clock classes, and we both shared a room in an apartment in Trembley Park. Those pre-dawn moments would have been a lot more painful, however, if it were not for the band, The Eels.

Letters: A non-Capitalist Christmas

The Brown & White, Lehigh University, PA

7 hours ago by Olivier Lewis, '07

As we gaze upon Christmas break with the tearful-eye of economic hardships, I suggest we see these times as opportunities to reconsider our priorities. Most mourn forthcoming economic impoverishment. Many are also saddened by the threats of global dangers, such as terrorism, immigration, climate change, and water shortage.

Letters: Edit headlines with more care

The Brown & White, Lehigh University, PA

As a sports editor and writer for the Brown and White during my four years at Lehigh, I was pretty shocked when I read the headline of this past week's wrestling article, titled "Mountain Hawks upset No. 9-ranked Michigan University". I was happy when I read about this, as upsetting No 9 Michigan is big deal for us at Lehigh.

It's not quite rotten, but something is definitely amiss about the state of the high rises. Between the 400 clogged-toilet complaints filed this semester and the long waits for broken elevators, students in the high rises are understandably frustrated and upset with Facilities Services right now.

PROP 8 STUMBLING BLOCK FOR EQUALITY

Observer, Rutgers-Newark, NJ

22 hours ago by MARIO McCALLA, OBSERVER CONTIBUTER

I applaud the wonderful citizens of the United States of America. This country, with such a dark past of racism and inequality, has made history. Racism did not stop citizens from voting an African American President. America is a country making astounding progress in equality and human rights, right?

ELIZANDRO: Change: can you feel it?

The Villanovan, Villanova University, PA

23 hours ago by John Elizandro

"Change We Can Believe In" has become "The Clinton Administration: The Sequel." Only a few short weeks after Obama's election victory, many of his supporters are already scratching their heads. Instead of the cherished new kind of politics promised by Obama and so passionately desired by those who voted for him, the president-elect's new administration is shaping up to be a cabal of recycled Clinton-era officials shuffled around from post to post.

EDITORIAL: Villanovans abroad

The Villanovan, Villanova University, PA

It seems that at Villanova, most of your friends disappear sometime during junior year. They pop up on your Facebook news feed in foreign countries, and you find strange postcards in different languages in your mailbox in Kennedy. They make your housing plans for the West Campus apartments a nightmare.

At MSU, Russ Has Become A Fuss For Students This Year

The Montclarion, MontClair STate University, NJ

1 day ago by Lou Cunningham

For my first two years here at MSU, I was a mostly contented denizen of Freeman Hall. Sure, there were problems, but I realized that no college dorm is going to be perfect.

At the end of my sophomore year, however, my friend and I decided that we wanted to upgrade to Russ Hall, a supposedly magical place where the floors are carpeted, the residents stay quiet and each room has its own air conditioning and heating unit.

David Kanter | Putting too much stock in paper

The Daily Pennsylvanian, University of Pennsylvania, PA

Jan. 20, 2009, will be a historic day. George W. Bush (Yale, Harvard MBA) will no longer be the president of this nation, ending a reign that I will generously term disgraceful. After eight years of incompetent decision-making and leadership, Obama and Co.

As a way of avoiding writing an editorial that no one will read, I have instead elected to write a goodbye letter - that no one will read. What can I say about my time at The Signal that will do my experiences here justice? This newspaper has taken five semesters of pure youth away from me.

America's "Black Friday" culture is true source of economic woes

The Hawk, Saint Joseph's University, PA

2 days ago by Sam Koch '11

Ironically, I spent Black Friday in the company of a communist.

Though deceased for several decades, Rosa Luxemburg-a Jewish, Polish, female Marxists in an age of Christian, German men-read remarkably fresh, especially on a day where capitalism had literally trampled over the "little guy.

It's gotten to the point where we should let the giants fall. Yeah, I said it. Let them collapse. Let General Motors, Chrysler and Ford stand on their own, and if they cannot, let them go. While some of my more cynical friends would easily classify me as a die-hard, card- carrying Democrat, they would be sadly mistaken.

March Madness

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in hopes of informing the general student body that the administration is trying to get rid of a tradition that we have all enjoyed in the past, as have students decades before us. The Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry is the most-played and longest uninterrupted college football rivalry in the nation.
