Deadline nears for voter registration

When you read those words you might have thought it was another MTV slogan or yet another long-winded article on voting for president this year. Who cares?
Please, don't go yet..
Registering to vote and actually voting on Election Day will be among the most important things you do this year, no matter what else you've got going on. Don't sit out an election that could determine our country's future. Too much is riding on your vote.
Unfortunately, if you are not registered to vote, you probably don't care, or maybe you don't know how.
But registering in Pennsylvania is quite simple. There are three qualifications: You have to be a citizen of the United States for at least 30 days before Election Day; you have to be a legal resident of Pennsylvania for the same 30 days and you must be 18.
That's it. If you meet these requirements, the rest is easy because there are plenty of ways to register. The easiest in Pennsylvania is to apply online at www.votespa.com. You also can register at your local Pennsylva-nia Department of Transportation license center when you get or update your driver's license.
Make sure you register before the Oct. 4 deadline. Then get out and vote on Nov. 2.
A voter registration drive is planned at Main Campus for Sept 28 and 29 in the cafeteria and Laub Lounge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is being organized by Paralegal/Legal Secretaries Club, Student American Dental Hy-giene Association, the Political Science Club, Pan-African Student Caucus and Phi Theta Kappa.
