Released in June 2005 these eight songs seriously get better with time, and I loved the music the first time I heard it. Released on Parts Unknown record label, the music is a noisy, sludgy kick in the face and was part of the regular rotation at the Allentown based, no longer existing, riot-of-a-venue Jeff the Pigeon. Three of the four band members went to Nazareth High School together and have been playing in various bands for years.
When asked where their concept came from, vocalist Matt Korvette says "The idea was to start a different kind of punk band focused on dead-ended carnal cravings, sexual depression…that sort of thing"
A pill hard to swallow for some, this album will get anyone into rock and roll psyched at a party, and it's almost hard to believe that this mad, intense album comes from pretty straight dudes. When compared to other drug induced punks band such as Flipper or Fang, Korvette adds,
"We're definitely not on drugs. While those dudes escaped reality and zonked out on all sorts of uppers and downers, Pissed Jeans is more about staring at your zits in the mirror for an hour straight while crying stone sober."
This album may make the light of heart run away crying, though it's more likely to just make one go completely nuts, longing for more. Track for track, the album's nearly flawless. There are definite highlights in songs Boring Girls, Closet Marine, and the climatic finisher Wachovia.
Since the album's release the band has continued to release music and tour. Also check out the single "Don't Need Smoke To Make Myself Disappear" released on Sub-Pop records and another full length titled "Hope For Men" coming in the near future.
