GPS, Navigators, Google Maps, Micro chipping animals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Positioning_System)
No matter where you are; you cannot get lost anymore and someone, somewhere, can track you, be it your parents or Big Brother. The invention of handheld GPS devices (Global Positioning System), and later cellphones with the same ability, has quickly become one of the most used tools today. Many new cars come with docking stations or GPS systems already installed. One can now place a microchip in their beloved pet and find it if it gets lost. Parents can track their children via cell phone to cell phone. Tracking and finding has never been so easy and convenient and is almost definitely worth it's weight in gold.
Streaming Radio (http://www.pandora.com/)
Satellite radio started the ball rolling by reaching millions of listeners worldwide, but at a price. Satellite radio may be old news now. The world is abuzz with streaming radio. Streaming Radio allows the user to play (or stream) radio stations and channels to their computer or mobile device. An application like Pandora is a perfect example. With Pandora one can stream live internet radio to mobile devices, PDAs, laptops, and more, as long as there is an internet connection (something that isn't to hard to find these days). A user can even cache the music and store it as playback for the times he or she has no connection. Pandora is taking it to the extreme with the Music Genome project, an algorithm program set to figure out what type of music the user likes by choosing a band and playing similar music. Apple has jumped onto this type of project with it's Itunes Genius Button as well.
Wi-Fi Hotspots and Air Cards (http://mobileoffice.about.com/od/remoteaccesssolutions/g/aircard.htm)
In the old days, getting on the internet was hard. One needed a cable modem or a phone line and all these wires and stuff. Not anymore! And though the old ways haven't completely disappeared, we can now do more with less. Many businesses, hotels, cafes, and more have Wi-Fi hotspots (areas that offer the internet), for free or fee, but allow a user to sit down, crack the lid of a laptop and browse the net to one's heart content.
