Your Professor tells the class there will be a meeting on Monroe campus, yet you have never been there. Wouldn't it be great if you had a device that gave you directions? You work full time, and take classes on campus full time, your overloaded with work, how in the world will you be able to see your favorite TV show tonight? You're sick, you missed class and an assignment is due today; what do you do?

With tech advancements of the present, none of these problems are actually problems. GPS on your cell phone covers directions, a DVR at home will record last nights episode of Lost so you can finish homework, and an email account saves you from missing assignments when sick.

Today, Modern Technology is continuously evolving and transforming. With these advancements many good things have come about. Here is a list of ten of the more useful tech advancements in recent years. I did not choose the big, obvious, stuff such as lap top computers, digital cameras, cell phones, etc., but rather the more subtle stuff. Everyone loves lists right? Here we go, no specific order:

The DVR / TiVo http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dvr.htm)

Gone are the days of missing episodes of your favorite television series or soap opera. With DVR recorders one can set and record entire series, reruns, or single episodes to watch at his or her leisure. In addition, you can fast forward through commercials, rewind to something you missed or pause for a bathroom break. This is definitely more economically friendly than having stacks of VHS tapes and remembering everyday to set your VCR to record.

Text Messaging and Email (http://products.vzw.com/index.aspx?id=messaging_txt_how)

"OMG, I'm OMW." "LOL, I'll TTYL". Text messaging and email have both revolutionized our way of communication and begun to change the English language into acronyms. When email came about it all but ended old school snail mail and allowed people to keep in constant contact all around the world. Now, with text and email on mobile devices, everyone is always connected wherever they receive a signal.
